Everybody Is Talking About It: AI

AI is everywhere right now. Headlines, LinkedIn posts, and sales decks. You can’t escape it. But beyond the hype, how are leaders actually using AI day-to-day?

On Business & Brews, Immediate Founder and CEO Matt Pierce has been sitting down with operators, founders, and leaders to hear how they are using AI in their work. Here’s how three leaders are using AI today:

Jennifer Ryan, Founder & CEO, Croux

For Jennifer, AI isn’t just an experiment but core to how she runs her business.

“It drives how we run the business.”

On a daily basis, she uses AI as a strategic partner rather than a replacement for judgment.

“For me on a day-to-day basis, I use it as a thinking partner. It’s helped me draft faster, pressure test things, and summarize.”

Her focus is on removing low-value work so she can spend more time where it matters most.

“What I’m trying to do is expedite time on the boring stuff and really use more time for white-space thinking and judgment.”

As systems become more connected, AI has also changed the speed and confidence of her decision-making.

“Once the pipes are connected and it feeds you information, as a leader it’s allowed me to make decisions much more quickly… and have more confidence in them.”

Thor Hunter, Head of Sales & Partnerships, RedeApp

Thor’s approach to AI is deeply technical and deeply personal. He’s focused on aggregating data and finding insights that would be impossible to surface manually.

“Personally, I’ve been a ChatGPT user… What I’m doing is taking effectively all the data from all the apps, all the systems that I have.”

He’s built workflows that automatically move that data into a centralized environment.

“I’ve vibe-coded… legitimately just had ChatGPT give me the code to send all the information from these different platforms into a data lake I’ve built in Google.”

From there, AI helps him uncover patterns across otherwise disconnected information.

“To take all this structured but unrelated data and map it for correlation points.”

For Thor, AI isn’t about efficiency alone. It’s about turning existing data into actionable data. Listen to Thor's B&B here.

Will Yarbrough, Chief Sales Officer, Arcoro

Will brings a refreshingly honest perspective: even leaders who believe in AI don’t always feel ahead of it.

“I’ll say, I feel like I’m super behind here.”
“This (AI) is moving and changing so fast… I feel like I’m getting left behind.”

Rather than pretending to have it all figured out, Will focuses on accelerating his learning by leaning on others.

“I’m just trying to expose myself… listening to podcasts, talking to folks like you, hiring consultants… whatever I can do to accelerate my own learning.”

He sees AI adoption as similar to leveraging internal expertise.

“There are a lot of people spending tons of time on AI… so similar to leveraging expertise within your own company, get out there and talk to people who are figuring it out.”
