BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – August 26, 2026 – Immediate, a leading fintech provider of Earned Wage Access (EWA) and financial wellness services, is participating in an international working group convened by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to help develop global good practices for the responsible delivery of EWA. The International Labour Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations that brings together governments, employers, and workers to promote decent work, workers’ rights, social protection, and fair employment practices while developing labor standards worldwide.
Bringing its perspective as a U.S.-based EWA provider, Immediate is working alongside 17 fintechs and payroll providers to examine how EWA can responsibly support workers and employers in emerging markets.
Through a series of global working sessions, including several tenured Immediate employees and executive leaders, participants have reviewed proposed practices line by line, focusing on four key areas:
The proposed framework distinguishes between Core Practices, which establish baseline expectations for responsible EWA, and Emerging Practices, which reflect where the industry is headed in the coming years.
The work is designed to provide practical guidance applicable across different countries, business models, and delivery approaches, without prescribing a single EWA model.
“EWA has the potential to fundamentally change the way workers experience their pay, but with that opportunity comes a responsibility to get the model right,” said Jami Griffin, VP of Customer Success at Immediate. “We are proud to bring the perspective of Immediate’s solution to this global conversation and to work alongside the ILO and industry participants to help establish thoughtful, worker-centered practices that can support the responsible growth of EWA around the world.”
